BITE SENSITIVITY

WHY DOES THE TOOTH IS SENSITIVE TO BITE

The teeth are stabilized with Sharpey fibers to the jaw. If the tooth is sensitive to bite, then there is a sterile inflammation in the periodontal space (due to overload) or a bacterial infection.

WHAT CAN CAUSE BITE SENSITIVITY

  • New and overshaped filling, crown, where the restored tooth contacts first when biting compared to the other teeth.

  • Periodontal pockets develop when some food residue stuck between the tooth and the gingiva. It can cause itchy gums with bleeding.

  • The dead pulp of the tooth can be superinfected by oral bacteries. If the infetion gets over the root apex, then unbearable biting pain occurs.

  • During and after root canal treatment

  • After tooth extraction, the remaining teeth in the jaw can be overloaded in the near future.

HOW TO TREAT BITE SENSITIVITY

  • in case of a new restoration, the occlusion has to be corrected

  • In case of inflammed periodontium, the pocket must be cleaned

  • In case of inflammed pulp, root canal treatment is needed

  • In case of tooth extraction, tooth loss replacement is needed
