ROOT TIP REMOVAL

WHY DO YOU NEED TO REMOVE TOOT ROOT?

If there is still an active inflammatory process around the root apex of a root-treated or even multi-rooted tooth, the root apex that sustains inflammation should be removed. In this case, in surgical excavation, 3 mm of the root tip is cut off and stuffed retrogradely with a special bioceramic filling material.

Root apex removal is a dental rescue procedure designed to prevent bridge or implant interventions.

BENEFITS OF REMOVING THE ROOT TIP

  • the tooth is saved, you can still participate in the chewing function

  • 2/3 of the tooth root is retained so the jaw dimension around the tooth can be preserved

  • success rate of root apex removal after unsuccessful multiple root canals 95%

  • after successful intervention, inflammatory bone deficiency around the root recovers

DISADVANTAGES OF ROOT TIP REMOVAL

  • can only be performed in a surgical procedure

  • 1/3 (3mm) of the tooth root is removed, thus reducing the load capacity of the tooth

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR REMOVAL OF THE ROOT TIP

  • if the stability of the tooth after root apex resection is in doubt

  • if the tooth has high mobility due to inflammation of the periodontal

  • if the root apex is covered by anatomical formulas that may increase surgical complications
